Netflix and Distance

is a digital brand campaign that seeks to utilize the platform’s popularity during stay at home orders to inform it’s users, encourage safe behavior, and help combat the widespread effects of a global crisis. I designed the campaign in the Spring of 2020, in an effort to examine the ways in which a large company such as Netflix could influence and assist.

 

Campaign Goals

Awareness: Leverage Netflix’s position as a collective pass time when stay at home orders went into effect. Add a series of illustrated slides to the main page of Netflix to spread more awareness about the economic, access, and safety struggles that were exacerbated as a result of COVID-19. Additionally, create a system that stands out against what Netflix’s typical content, that remains coherent with the existing brand.

Provide Resources: In raising awareness, also provide those who may be facing these issues/know someone facing these issues clear resources to get the assistance they need.

Generate Donations: When users watch select shows/movies relating to each issue, Netflix will make a donation to an organization doing work to provide aid and fight these issues. Additionally, point people to organizations to donate to.

The campaign consists of several different illustrations, putting into focus the varying socioeconomic issues people are facing during the pandemic. The information consists of links and resources to learn more about the problems people face, such as homelessness and food access, as well as ways to help and get help.

 

Website Design

Home page UI for the duration of the campaign which allows users to cycle through issues to learn more about them, get resources to get help, and different options to give help both through Netflix, and outside of Netflix.

Social collateral to be further promote the campaign. Implemented approachable, on trend illustration, that reflects the Netflix brand.
